What is the difference between a fuse box and a consumer unit?
A fuse box is an older system using rewireable fuses or cartridge fuses. A consumer unit is the modern upgrade with circuit breakers (MCBs) and residual current devices (RCDs), offering faster protection and easier reset.
Can I install a socket myself in my home?
Work inside walls or on circuits must be done by a qualified electrician. However, plugging appliances into existing sockets is safe. Any permanent wiring changes require professional installation and certification.
Why do lights flicker in my house?
